Sixth Form Dress Code

At The Langley Academy Sixth Form, we want every student to feel confident, comfortable and ready for the world of work. Our dress code reflects the professional environments you may enter in the future, whether that’s university, an apprenticeship or employment.

We encourage all students to take pride in their appearance and dress in a smart, business‑like way that supports our ambitious Sixth Form culture.

Professional Expectations

Sixth Form students should wear clothing that would be suitable for a professional workplace, an interview or a formal event. Dressing this way helps build confidence, develops good habits and creates a positive learning environment.

Students should choose from:

  • Smart trousers, skirts or dresses
  • Tailored shirts, blouses or tops
  • Smart jumpers or cardigans
  • Blazers or formal jackets
  • Smart shoes (flat or heeled)

ID Badges

All students must wear their Sixth Form ID lanyard every day. This helps keep our environment safe and ensures everyone can be easily identified.

What to Avoid

To maintain a professional atmosphere, students should avoid wearing:

  • Casual sportswear
  • Ripped or distressed clothing
  • Flip‑flops or very casual footwear
  • Clothing with large logos or bold slogans

Why Professional Dress Matters

Our dress code is not about restricting students — it’s about helping you succeed. Dressing professionally helps you:

  • Build confidence and strong self‑presentation skills
  • Develop habits that prepare you for higher education and work
  • Contribute to a focused, respectful and mature learning culture

At The Langley Academy Sixth Form, we want every student to feel ready for their next steps — ambitious, motivated and prepared for a successful future.
