UCAS
Thinking about university? We’re here to support you at every stage. From researching courses to writing a strong personal statement, this page gives you the key information you need to feel confident as you start your UCAS journey.
Start Early: Research Your Options
The best applications start with good research. In Year 12, you’ll look into different courses, universities and degree types so you can make informed choices about your future.
Attend University Open Day
Seeing universities in person is one of the best ways to understand if they’re right for you. Use open‑day websites to find events and get a real sense of what campus life is like.
Use House Tutor Lessons Wisely
During House Tutor lessons, you’ll get structured support to explore university courses, entry requirements and possible career paths. These lessons are designed to help you plan ahead with confidence. Examples of some of the subjects covered are PSHE and Careers
When the UCAS Process Begins
The UCAS process at school starts after the Easter break. You’ll set up your UCAS account and begin your application. The aim is to have a first draft of your personal statement ready before the Year 12 summer holidays.
Writing a Strong Personal Statement
You’ll get guidance, examples, tips and feedback to help you write a personal statement that clearly shows your strengths, interests and enthusiasm for your chosen course.
Support for Parents & Carers
We also host a UCAS Parent Information Evening in February, where families can learn more about the application process, student finance and university accommodation.
