Our curriculum is designed to ensure children acquire new knowledge and skills that support them in the next step in their life: whether that be university, apprenticeships or entry into their future careers.
It provides opportunities for students to engage with a range of texts from the Literary canon, but also contemporary texts that promote our core values of tolerance, acceptance and empathy. The impact of this is that students expand their knowledge and understanding of the world they live in, helping them to understand their own role in society and, in turn, developing them to become well-rounded adults.
The curriculum also provides opportunities for students to discover the potential power one can have in acquiring control over the written word, and students build familiarity in writing for a variety of different audiences in a variety of styles. We use the Museum Learning ethos within the school and students have opportunities to explore their thoughts and ideas through debates, critical thinking and memorable experience that not only helps them to become great communicators, but also fosters a life-long appreciation and application of English.
