As we conclude the first term, it is inspiring to see our Year 7 students settling so well into their new environment. The transition to secondary school can be both exciting and challenging, yet our young learners have embraced this journey with enthusiasm and determination. They have engaged actively across a range of core subjects and explored a variety of extracurricular activities, demonstrating remarkable resilience and adaptability.

The friendships they are forming and the connections they are nurturing are wonderful to see and contribute greatly to our positive, supportive school community. Our teachers have been particularly impressed by the students' eagerness to learn and their participation in class discussions and group projects. It is gratifying to see them taking initiative — whether in lessons or during lunchtime clubs and activities.

As we look ahead to the next term, we encourage our Year 7 students to sustain this momentum, remaining curious, kind, and involved. Together, we are laying a strong foundation for an exciting academic journey ahead.

Transition

As we approach the end of the first half-term, we would like to remind families that valuable transition resources are available on our school website. Key information such as the timings of the school day and our student handbook will help your child revisit important routines and expectations of secondary school life. These resources have also been sent to parents via Applicaa and remain accessible there.

Empower Choices Programme

Year 7 recently attended the launch assembly for the Empower Choices programme, delivered by PC Sloane. This initiative supports young people in navigating the decisions they face in everyday life, with a particular focus on responsible digital citizenship.

In upcoming classroom-based sessions, students will take part in discussions around online safety, exploring the potential risks of social media and the importance of protecting personal information. PC Sloane’s lessons encourage open dialogue, allowing students to share their ideas and collaborate on strategies for maintaining positive and respectful online behaviour.

House Captains

Excitement filled the air this term as Year 7 students cast their votes for their new House Captains! With a range of nominations, candidates demonstrated their leadership qualities and shared their visions for representing their tutor groups and the wider year group.

Campaign speeches were full of creativity and passion, sparking lively conversations among peers. The anticipation leading up to the results was palpable, and the elections highlighted the students’ commitment to building a vibrant and inclusive school community.

Congratulations to all our nominees and to the students elected as our new Year 7 House Captains — we look forward to an inspiring year of leadership ahead!
