Expanding Horizons: The Langley Academy’s Commitment to Student Opportunity Through Sport
At The Langley Academy, we believe that education extends far beyond the classroom. Our commitment to developing opportunities for all students is reflected in our ever-growing network of extracurricular and community partnerships, designed to enrich experiences and support both physical and mental wellbeing.
In line with our PE department’s strapline — Healthy. Active. Mind and Body. — we have established strong links with a range of professional sports organisations. These partnerships provide students with access to high-quality coaching, competitive experiences, and pathways into sport beyond school.
Among our current collaborations are:
-
High Wycombe Rugby Club – offering expert rugby coaching and pathways to club-level competition.
-
Thames Valley Basketball – providing structured training for aspiring players.
-
Berkshire Cricket Foundation – supporting cricket development through coaching and enjoyment.
-
Brentford Football Club – delivering football sessions and mentoring that inspire excellence both on and off the pitch.
We are also thrilled to announce a new partnership with Slough Football Club and 360 Vision, focusing on creating opportunities specifically for girls who are passionate about football. This initiative aims to break down barriers and encourage greater female participation, aligning with our inclusive ethos.
Our students have embraced these opportunities with enthusiasm and dedication, consistently demonstrating resilience, teamwork, and commitment. These experiences not only enhance fitness but also contribute to personal growth, confidence, and community spirit.
Enrichment Clubs – After School & Lunchtimes
Our enrichment programme has gone from strength to strength this term, offering students a wide variety of sports and activities beyond the classroom. After-school clubs in rugby, football, table tennis, badminton, and netball have been well attended, giving students the chance to develop their skills, stay active, and enjoy time with friends.
Lunchtime clubs have also been a big hit, with badminton, futsal, girls’ club, and basketball providing fun and inclusive opportunities to stay engaged and energised during the school day.
These clubs are more than just physical activity — they’re about building confidence, encouraging teamwork, and promoting a lifelong love of sport. A big thank you to all staff and coaches who have supported these sessions and helped create such a welcoming, active culture in our academy.
