UCAS Update

We are delighted to report that over 100 UCAS applications were submitted by our internal deadline of 28 November – well ahead of the official UCAS deadline of 29 January. Early submission has already paid off, with more than 350 offers received, and an impressive 24 students securing all five offers.

A particular highlight is the strength of offers from the Russell Group, with 71 offers held by 45 students. (The Russell Group is a consortium of 24 leading, research-intensive UK universities known for high academic standards and excellent graduate outcomes.)

Standout course offers so far include:

  • Politics & International Relations – King’s College London

  • Mechanical Engineering – University of Edinburgh

  • Classics – University of Bristol

Thank you to our Tutors and Sixth Form team for their guidance, and well done to Year 13 for meeting the internal deadline. Students still finalising their applications should continue working closely with their House Tutors or the Sixth Form team to ensure everything is in place ahead of the national deadline.

Supervised Study

Supervised Study has evolved into a space that truly supports focus, reflection, and success. Recent changes – including a clearer code of conduct and a calmer, distraction-free environment – have helped students take greater ownership of their learning.

By fostering respect for the space and its purpose, we have encouraged deeper concentration and more purposeful study, making it easier for all Sixth Form students to stay on track and achieve their goals.

Year 11 Taster Day – A Glimpse into Sixth Form Life

On Friday 14 November, our Year 11 students enjoyed an exciting opportunity to experience life as a Sixth Former during our annual Year 11 Taster Day. This immersive event allowed students to attend lessons in a wide range of A-Level and vocational subjects, including popular new options such as Government and Politics, Psychology, and Sociology.

Throughout the day, students followed a personalised timetable, navigating their schedules just like our current Sixth Formers. Breaks and lunch were spent in the Sixth Form Centre, giving students the chance to explore the facilities, interact with peers, and experience the vibrant and supportive atmosphere that defines our Sixth Form community.

This event followed our highly successful Sixth Form Open Evening on Wednesday 12 November, where students and parents learned more about the courses and enrichment opportunities available. We were delighted by the enthusiasm and engagement shown by our Year 11 students and hope these experiences help them make informed decisions about their next steps. We would also like to thank our alumni for supporting the evening with their valuable insights into university life and apprenticeship opportunities.
