The Business, Economics and Computing Department is delighted to celebrate the outstanding achievement of Year 10 students Ayshnavi and Rajonya, who represented The Langley Academy at the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow UK Final 2026, held at Samsung KX in London on 30 April.

A National Finalist Achievement

Competing as Team Drifters, Ayshnavi and Rajonya earned a place among the final three teams in the 14–16 age category, an exceptional accomplishment in a highly competitive national competition that challenges young people to use technology and innovation to solve real-world problems.

Their project focused on one of the most important issues facing young people today: online safety. Guided by the motto "Safety Matters First", the team developed a non-invasive technological solution designed to help prevent online grooming before harm occurs.

The finalists in their category were:

• AsthmaSense (Desmond College, Ireland) – Winner
• Team Drifters (The Langley Academy)
• Startz (Newstead Wood School)

While the winning project focused on environmental health, Team Drifters stood out for tackling the critical issue of online safety with creativity, purpose and determination.

Outstanding Representation

Throughout the competition, Ayshnavi and Rajonya demonstrated remarkable professionalism and maturity. During the demanding final pitch stage, they impressed judges and attendees alike through their confidence, preparation and communication skills.

Their success was built on:

• Confidence and professionalism during the live pitching process
• Resilience and composure when answering challenging questions
• A deep understanding of their project and its purpose
• Excellent communication skills during presentations and filmed interviews

Their teamwork, commitment and passion were evident throughout every stage of the competition, making them outstanding ambassadors for the Academy.

An Experience to Remember

The final was about much more than the competition itself. Students enjoyed a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in an exciting environment focused on innovation, creativity and technology.

As part of the experience, they:

• Took part in an innovation trail across King's Cross, exploring how technology can transform communities
• Solved challenges and interacted with cutting-edge exhibits
• Experienced the excitement of the event, including walking the red carpet
• Met and engaged with students, innovators and industry professionals from across the country

The team embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm and confidence, representing the school with pride and professionalism throughout the day.

Inspiring the Next Generation

We are incredibly proud of Ayshnavi and Rajonya for their dedication, resilience and inspiring vision. Their achievement demonstrates what can be accomplished when creativity, technology and a desire to make a positive difference come together.

Looking Ahead to Samsung Solve for Tomorrow 2027

Following this year's success, we strongly encourage students to consider entering the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow competition next year. The programme provides a fantastic opportunity to develop problem-solving, teamwork and innovation skills while addressing real-world challenges.

Participants can benefit from opportunities including:

• Access to cutting-edge Samsung technology
• Networking with industry professionals and innovators
• STEM prototyping workshops
• Mentoring from Samsung experts
• The chance to have their work showcased on the iconic Piccadilly Circus screen

We look forward to seeing even more Langley students bring their ideas to life and continue our growing tradition of innovation and entrepreneurship.

Congratulations once again to Team Drifters on an exceptional achievement and a truly memorable experience.
