• Organising a wide range of competitions and events suitable for all abilities
• Supporting students through key transition points in their educational journey
• Developing youth leadership through roles such as sports leaders, referees and event organisers
• Working closely with families, staff and the wider community to promote lifelong participation in sport
The Platinum award recognises not only competitive success but also the Academy's dedication to inclusion, personal development and fostering healthy habits that last beyond school life.
Athletics Team Achieves Best Result in Over a Decade
The Langley Academy athletics teams enjoyed one of their most successful district competitions in recent history, competing against schools from across the district.
Throughout both competition days, students displayed determination, resilience and outstanding team spirit, representing the Academy with pride despite challenging conditions.
Among the many excellent performances, special recognition goes to:
• Remmi (Year 9), who achieved a qualifying time in the 200 metres
• Sydney (Year 10), who achieved a qualifying time in the 300 metres
Both athletes have qualified for the Berkshire Athletics Competition, a remarkable achievement that reflects their dedication and talent.
Further congratulations go to:
• Gabrielle
• Qasim
• Maria
• Miraya
Each secured a top-three finish in their events, contributing significantly to the team's overall success.
As a result of these performances, The Langley Academy achieved an outstanding third-place finish out of 15 local schools. This represents our highest placing at the district athletics competition in more than ten years and highlights the strength, commitment and development of our student athletes.
New Age Kurling Success
Students recently enjoyed an exciting afternoon of New Age Kurling at The Centre, competing in a modern and engaging environment complete with an innovative light-up playing surface.
Three teams represented the Academy, with students from Years 7, 8 and 9 competing throughout the event.
The Year 7 team, despite being relatively new to the sport, demonstrated remarkable resilience and determination. After narrowly missing out on qualification from their group, they entered the Plate Competition and responded brilliantly, winning all of their remaining matches to finish as Plate champions.
Both the Year 8 and Year 9 teams progressed strongly through the group stages and reached their respective semi-finals. Although both teams narrowly missed out on a place in the final, they met in the third-place play-off in an all-Langley contest. The Year 9 team used their experience to secure victory and claim third place overall, while the Year 8 team finished an impressive fourth after a closely fought match.
The event provided valuable experience for all involved and highlighted the growing strength of New Age Kurling within the Academy. Students represented the school exceptionally well and should be proud of their efforts.
Football Teams Reach Cup Semi-Finals
It has been another successful season for football at The Langley Academy, with several year groups reaching the latter stages of cup competitions and demonstrating excellent commitment throughout the year.
Year 9 Cup Semi-Final
Mr Evans' Year 9 team produced a spirited performance in a thrilling local cup semi-final against Wexham, narrowly losing 3–2.
Langley started brightly and deservedly took an early lead before Wexham responded to level the scores and eventually edge ahead before half-time. The second half remained fiercely competitive, with Langley striking the post and creating several chances in search of an equaliser. Despite Wexham extending their lead, the team continued to battle and scored a late goal to set up a tense finish.
Although they were unable to find a third goal, the players can take great pride in their performance. Wexham later went on to win the competition, underlining the quality of the opposition faced.
Year 11 Cup Semi-Final
The Year 11 boys faced Windsor Boys in what proved to be their final fixture together as a school team. Despite a determined display, they were defeated 3–1 in the semi-final.
The result brought an end to a memorable journey that began in Year 7 and included numerous successes, most notably this season's Division 2 title and the unforgettable Year 8 league and cup double.
Special recognition goes to captain Josh and vice-captain Zak, whose leadership, commitment and positive influence have played an important role in the team's success over the years.
The group should be immensely proud of everything they have achieved and the outstanding way they have represented the Academy throughout their time here.
Year 7 Cup Semi-Final
The Year 7 team experienced a dramatic cup semi-final against DPA. After racing into a commanding 3–0 lead within the opening eight minutes, the team looked in complete control.
However, DPA fought their way back into the match and eventually secured a 5–3 victory. While the result was disappointing, the experience provided valuable lessons for a young squad.
A special mention goes to Charlie, whose resilience, leadership and encouragement of teammates stood out throughout the game.
Year 8 Cup Semi-Final
The Year 8 team produced a courageous performance against a strong St. Jo's side in the Slough Cup semi-final, eventually losing 2–1.
Despite facing physically stronger opposition, Langley competed superbly throughout, playing attractive football and showing excellent resilience. After responding to an early setback with a deserved equaliser, the match remained finely balanced before St. Jo's edged ahead with the decisive goal.
The players can be extremely proud of both their performance and the progress they have made throughout the season.
Dominant Victory Against Lynch Hill
One of the standout performances of the season came in the Year 8 team's emphatic 10–1 victory over Lynch Hill.
Outstanding attacking displays from Marco and Samson, who both scored hat-tricks, helped secure a memorable win. The entire squad contributed to a performance that showcased excellent teamwork, confidence and attacking football.
District Honours for Girls' Footballers
The PE Faculty is delighted to congratulate Emily, Clara, Diva, Alicia and Jana on their selection for the Slough Schools' Football Association Under-15 Girls District Team for the 2026–27 season.
Representing the district is a significant achievement and reflects the dedication, skill and commitment each student has shown both in school and beyond. We are incredibly proud of their success and look forward to following their progress in the coming season.
Year 9 Experience Exciting Kinball Event
Year 9 students recently visited Beechwood School to take part in an exciting Kinball session.
Kinball, played using a giant inflatable ball, encourages teamwork, communication and strategic thinking. Students quickly embraced the challenge and demonstrated excellent collaboration throughout the session.
One of the most encouraging aspects of the event was the level of communication and teamwork on display. Students supported one another, developed confidence and worked together to solve problems throughout the games.
The activity provided an excellent opportunity to develop key skills including resilience, leadership, teamwork and sportsmanship. It also introduced students to a new and engaging sport that many had never experienced before.
The session was a tremendous success and provided a memorable addition to the Year 9 PE programme. Students represented the Academy superbly and should be commended for their enthusiasm and positive attitude throughout.
A Term to Celebrate
From national awards and district athletics success to football cup runs, inclusive sporting opportunities and individual achievements, this term has showcased the very best of sport at The Langley Academy.
The PE Department would like to congratulate all students who have participated, competed and represented the Academy this term. Your effort, commitment and sportsmanship continue to make us incredibly proud, and we look forward to celebrating even more successes in the months ahead.
